The Holly House and Why Creativity Is An Essential Skill For Entrepreneurs

In a world where personal gifting often feels bleak and monotone, lies a key skill that makes gifts feel genuine and interpersonal. Creativity is something we all possess and can be found in everything we do, revealing a bright, colorful side of our soul. A hidden gem found in Orland Park promotes a new outlook on artistry, infusing creativity into gifting for loved ones. The Holly House Styling and Accessories is a business dedicated to transforming gifts into thoughtful memories while bringing light to a small and ever-growing community.

Owners Of The Holly House

This mother-daughter business begins with Becky and Samantha Frontera wanting to develop a space for creatives to flourish, curating gifts for loved ones, and creating a warm community hub for those in Orland Park, Frankfort, and Tinley Park. Becky, a former teacher and talented seamstress, had a passion for crafting homemade baby blankets, teddy bears, and ran a twelve-year business for button-down gowns. Being a teacher and mother allowed flexibility with arts and crafts, working with what she had on hand. Samantha, the youngest of three girls with entrepreneurial parents, was attuned with her creativity through writing. A supportive mom pushing Samantha through college to excel and refine her creative talents, even when things got tough. With a drive to reach a larger audience for crafting children’s accessories, Becky and Samantha produced a two-person project, developing a seasonal Christmas shop. A space was discovered within Orland Park that would later become a ten-month journey for this little hidden gem, opening its doors on August 1st, 2024.

What Does The Holly House Offer?

The Holly House is a woman-owned business that welcomes creative minds but houses talented artisans from Orland Park, offering a wide variety of activities and handcrafted gifts for friends and family. This creative space’s main goal is to provide a welcoming atmosphere and help Orland Park be seen. The Holly House brings a sense of community and shines brightly like a gem, attracting new customers from further away with its unique vendors. From permanent jewelry, watercolor paintings, baby accessories, and candles from unique vendors with different backgrounds, found on The Holly House website. Owner Samanta Frontera believes these artists define, share the same goals, and are like-minded in developing the community of Orland Park. The Holly House is like a family as visitors make new memories, either idly chatting, enjoying food and beverages like coffee and wine. As the Holly House continues to grow and develop, it continues to support its local artists, patrons, and vendors, developing their businesses, granting an opportunity to become part of a warm and understanding collective. Watching the Holly House grow is an exciting and accomplished experience for Samantha as she plans to open more locations in Chicago and Texas in the future.

Women As Entrepreneurs

Becky and Samantha Frontera are outstanding entrepreneurs, and refining the creative mindset is an essential skill needed to become a confident entrepreneur. When interviewing Samantha, she presents clear points and tips to pursue a career as a businesswoman and how to stand confidently within a predominantly male-oriented world. The Orland Park community is a difficult location for business. The times when confidence was difficult to find, when people wouldn’t walk through the front doors of the Holly House for days. A local business neighbor advised Sam to stay confident and pursue the future of the Holly house. A tip to highlight is to avoid being intimidated. A clever quote told by Becky, “Everyone puts their underpants the same way,” is an interesting way to view speaking to a higher power. When communicating to a supervisor, a person naturally feels intimidated, but the message points out that intimidation prevents opportunities and closes doors rather than opens them. Samantha believes that pursuing a future means chasing after it and speaking to others like any other. The greatest inspiration and cheerleader to Sam was her mother, who expressed her creativity through creating accessories for children. A relatable story from a Columbia College student to another, excelling in a creative field through writing. Samantha seeks to bring her mother’s ideas and message of creativity through the Holly House.
